About Us

I’m Jen, he’s Jason. We just got married!

We bought a 1500 square foot house in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul (Minnesota) in December 2007. The house was built in the 1920’s, updated in the 1950’s, and is currently in need of a serious makeover. We started making some updates to the house.

But then!  Life threw a wrench in our home remodeling plans: Jason landed his dream job!  In Michigan!

So we’re moving – cross-country – for the third time in as many years.  Watch us organize and depersonalize as we try to sell our house!  Watch us box up all of our possessions and load it on to a truck!  Watch us have a long-distance marriage for a few months while we get the details of the move sorted out!

Sound like fun?

Yeah, I don’t think so either.  But it should be good in the long run.  And I am nominating myself for the wife-of-the-year award.

At least I get custody of the dog until J and I are reunited…

  1. Hi Jen. I love this description of your new little family and your plans for your house. It’s so exciting. I tried emailing you but realized “our” wasn’t listed in your email address, so I thought I’d just say hi and share my enthusiasm for what you’re doing right here!

  2. Howdy… I am selling the desk you seek! Too bad it’s in Berkeley, CA 😦

Know anyone with a truck and a lot of free time?

  3. I have this desk. Oak. We bought it through a source who stated it was given to Clark Gables Housekeeper. If your interested, send email and I will send a picture.

  4. Hi there, i have been looking online for weeks, my parents gave me a desk, and its identicle to the one in your picture, just bigger, it also has a type writer pull out on one side when you pull the door open, but it looks like the draws on the other side.

    The desk is 34″ depth
5 feet wide and 31″ high
Solid top that comes off, you could stand on this desk and it doesn’t move. Needs to be restained? who made these bankers desks? thats where it came from, a bank from long ago LOL, any help would be great

  5. I actually don’t know anything about these desks, but think they’re super-cool.

Randomly, I picked one up off the side of the road a few weeks ago, and am now attempting to scrape paint off of it, fix it, and restain it. If you’re interested, you can follow my adventures here: homeinthecountry.wordpress.com, and I will post about it once it’s finished!
